Planet X
The existence of Planet X has been hotly debated for well over a century. Evidence of its existence dates back into the beginnings of recorded history. What is Planet X exactly? Ideas hold that it is the tenth and yet undiscovered planet in our solar system, at least undiscovered by modern science. Its very name comes from the Roman numeral 10. Planet X also acquires its name from things that are a bit on the fringes of science, X being a place holder for lack of a proper name. Planet X has also been referred to by the name Nibiru, as taken from ancient Sumerian models of a 12 planet solar system (including Earth's moon) instead of our current 9 planet model. This rogue planet is thought to have a very large elliptical orbit bringing it into the inner solar system approximately every 3600 years.

How did we
arrive at this 3600 year time period? A very valid question. I
have poured through countless pages of calculations from various sources.
Some put the orbit as low as 2148 years, while others hit the more popular
mark of 3600 years. The 3600 year time period is supposed to be taken
from ancient Sumerian clay tablets themselves over 6000 years ago.
Many
investigators will then throw another wrinkle in the equation that the
Sumerians had a different number system then the decimal system currently
in use. To avoid writing a large technical paper on how the numbers
work, I have found that Planet X, if it exists, will be near Earth
crossing orbit sometime between this year (2003) and 2012. A long
time span to be sure, but a blink of an eye in the cosmic scale of things.
What does all this mean to us here on Earth? Quite a bit from the
look of it. From historical accounts, the last time Planet X came
close to the Earth was the time of Noah and the great flood. Prior
to that, it is said there were times of quakes, floods and various other
calamities. A Mesopotamian cylinder shows farmers in their fields
with plows, looking up to spot Planet X in the daytime sky. A
sobering thought indeed. The arrival of the Planet to the
Mesopotamians was to trigger immense rain storms and flooding.
Hebrew prophets also discussed the arrival of Planet X as part of a
predictable cycle, ushering in a new era for mankind. It is even
thought by some investigators that various passages in the Bible refer to
the arrival of Planet X, though this may be up for interpretation.
The ancient Sumerians believed that our planet, Earth, is really only half
a planet called Tiamat. It used to be much larger. It is
reasonable to say that there was once a giant continent on one side of our
planet. Scientists and geologists have named this super continent Pangaea.
It
is fairly reasonable to assume as most know, if you cut up all the land
masses on Earth currently, they fit together (for the most part) in a nice
puzzle. The question is, if this was on one side of the planet, what
was on the other? This is where the uncertainty comes in.
According to ancient history, the story is that nothing was on the other
side of the planet. It was taken off by a collision with Planet X.
This may sound far fetched until you think about the one land mass versus
what we have today. All spinning things like to be balanced weight wise.
Cloths in a dryer are a good, albeit small example. So, assuming this
is true, all the land mass would be huddled on one side until things were
rounded out again over time, redistributing the land masses in their now
familiar and weight balanced model. What happened to the other side?
We see it now as what is the Asteroid belt. Right where it should be
between Earth and Mars.
What is NASA's stance on all of this? A very staunch, and I quote, "There is no known Planet X or 10th planet in our solar system." This is a very different story then NASA originally maintained in the 1980's. In 1982 NASA themselves recognized the possibility of an additional large planet beyond Pluto. The IRAS (Infrared Astronomical Satellite) spotted a large object in the depths of space. The Washington Post in that same year released an interview with the then head IRAS scientist. This is a direct quote from that interview: "A heavenly body possibly as large as the giant planet Jupiter and possibly so close to Earth that it would be part of this solar system has been found in the direction of the constellation Orion by an orbiting telescope... 'All I can tell you is that we don't know what it is', said Gerry Neugebauer, chief IRAS scientist. A far cry from what they are selling now. A cover up? I will let you decide.
Is there any evidence currently of the
impending arrival of Planet X? Some think so. There is a
battle of words and possible evidence raging out in the scientific
community. If such a planet were to come towards the inner solar
system, its gravity may be sweeping other objects along with it.
Space debris, comets, you name it. One place many proponents for Nibiru are watching is the SOHO (solar and heliospheric observatory)
satellite web page (http://sohowww.nascom.nasa.gov/).
It provides real time images of the sun and surrounding area. Assumed
live, the information can be received by anyone at the same time NASA
does. Some researchers will assert that nothing is going on.
Others are very passionate about what they are finding.
This
photo is a recent image from the SOHO web site. Some say, at the 10
o'clock position, there is a faint outline of Planet X just visible, still
far behind the sun and to the left from our vantage point. There is
one thing for certain. Numerous comets are making their way into the
inner solar system in numbers far above normal. Is this a
sign of the massive gravitational pull of Planet X? It is
conceivably possible. All in all one thing is for certain. The
subject of a tenth planet, especially with the résumé of the infamous Planet
X, has NASA's attention in one form or another.
A point to remember is that Pluto, the planet we are all familiar with as being our most distant, was not discovered until 1930. It seems almost amazing that many scientists today would scoff at the idea of another planet out there. New comets are discovered every year. Their orbits take them on wayward journeys far out of our solar system and back again for another visit, some taking thousands of years to make their return. When our media tells us something, we all seem to just accept it. Suffice to say there are many retractions and corrections everyday to our media consumption, they just end up on the back page in tiny print. Whether Planet X does indeed exist or not, whether NASA simply does not believe or is in the midst of a cover up, one thing is for certain. Those in the know do not share. So, watch the skies. If it is out there, you will not have to look hard. It will be there, looming large as life in the daytime sky.
