UK Government Insists No Big Cats

Killer big cats are NOT roaming
Britain's most remote areas, the Government insists - despite 22 claimed
sightings in the past 18 months.
New reports have revived memories of the 1983 Beast of Bodmin Moor terror
and the later Beast of Exmoor scare, which turned up a trail of 80 sheep
carcases.
But Animal Welfare minister Elliot Morley says he has had the claims
officially checked out - and his inspectors found nothing to back them up.
Animals believed responsible for unexplained livestock deaths across 16
counties - thought to be escaped pumas or lions - have never been caught.
But Mr Morley did admit: "The lack of evidence is hard to reconcile with
the number of reports."
Now Lib-Dems are demanding laws to ensure wild beasts are not kept as pets
which could get free.
