Spooky Guests Abound
Spook experts discovered a Coventry hotel is home to five ghosts after
they were called to investigate a number of paranormal incidents.
A hotel guest at the Aston Court Hotel in Holyhead Road called the Ghost
Society of England after she heard strange noises.
It was rumoured that the hotel had a ghost, but staff were stunned when
ghost hunters said there were five.
Reception manager, Stacy Thompson, 23, said: "It is really strange. The
chamber maids have often said they have seen things, but to have five is a
bit unnerving.
Investigators and mediums brought night vision video cameras and magnetic
detectors to the hotel.
They took the usual precautions, checking all unusual vibrations and
magnetic forces to ensure they were not man made.
Experts were amazed to be able, for the first time, to film ghostly lights
unexplained by conventional science.
Society president Stuart James said: "We have got lots of photos of
ghosts, but this is the first time we have captured them on video, making
the spirits in the hotel even more interesting."
Mr James believes the ghosts include two men, two women and a young girl
who hates men. Miss Thompson said: "The girl is supposed to have lived
here as a servant to a man who kept beating her.
"Now there is a room where she keeps attacking men. One of our workmen
keeps injuring himself in there so now we try to keep male guests out of
there.
"Another who used to be a cleaner and doesn't like vacuum cleaners, keeps
stealing all the dustpans. It is a real pain, but at least we know why
they keep disappearing now."
Although guests and staff should be panicking, Miss Thompson says that
everything is carrying on normally.
"All the staff have stayed and they seem quite happy with things, although
our sales manager, Carrie Havard, tells them what she is doing if she is
alone in a room.
"It doesn't affect the running of the hotel at all, and only one guest has
said anything that we are aware of."
