A Ghostly Memorial
This one involved pictures developed from a trip to Washington D.C. in the
summer of 1995. We had visited various monuments and one of these was the
Lincoln Memorial. I have always had the ability to sense paranormal
happenings, which I'm not to comfortable with. Upon my visit to the
Memorial, I sensed a feeling of -- for lack of better words, and I hope it
doesn't sound silly -- evil. Not "Satan-type evil", but just "bad
juju,"
I guess.
It was extremely spooky and eerie. Let me set-up the scene for you: broad
daylight, around 9:30am, lots of people, no standing pools of water to
reflect light, nothing. I took a few pictures for souvenirs and left in a
hurry. When I got the pictures back from the photo developers, I noticed
in the pictures of the Lincoln Memorial (and only this site) that there
were white "cloudy" forms across the walls, seemingly hanging in the air.
I guess you could say they were typical of most ghost pictures,
see-through white shapes, billowy-like.
At first glance I was curious as to what could have caused this on my
pictures, then after thumbing through them (there were about 4 pictures),
I got to one in particular of Lincoln sitting in his chair. To the
upper-right-hand side of the picture there was a white shape that upon
closer inspection very closely resembled a leering skull. Don't ask me to
describe it any other way, I can't.
I thought about sending them to some tabloid newspaper for money, but
couldn't stand having them in my possession; the feeling of foreboding and
evil just oozed off of them. They gave me the willies just having them,
and I couldn't even stand looking at them. They just seemed so evil.
I eventually destroyed them and discarded them. I wish I hadn't now,
because all I have is the story and none of the documentation to back it
up. Needless to say, I will probably never return to the Lincoln Memorial
again.
